Terms of use

Last updated 7 October 2026

Version 1.4 (pre-launch). These terms apply now, during invite-only early access with no payments. We will update them, and ask you to accept the new version, before paid questions open.

The points below cover how the service works now and what will apply once paid questions start.

Who we are

PennyForYours is run by David Bryan as a sole trader while the business is being set up. No company has been formed yet. You can reach us through the contact page, where a person reads every message, or by email at hello@pennyforyours.com. We do not publish a postal address during early access.

You must be 18 or over

PennyForYours is for adults only. You must be 18 or over to ask or answer, and you confirm this when you join. We may ask you to prove your age. Accounts that belong to someone under 18 are closed.

Early access

During early access, asking and answering are free and nothing is paid. Sign-up is by invitation. Any prices or pay shown on the site are launch examples, not offers.

Answering during early access is voluntary. You do not have to answer anything, and nothing you do earns pay, points, prizes or anything else with a cash value. Answering now does not earn pay later and is not a promise of paid work. Questions during early access come from us and from invited testers trying the service, not from businesses buying answers.

Answers must be your own

Answers must be your own. Using AI tools, chatbots or automation to write or submit answers is not allowed. Accounts found doing so, now or later, are removed after a human review, and you can appeal.

We check answers with a mix of signals and human review. No automated signal on its own is enough to remove an account or withhold pay: a person reviews the evidence first, tells you the reason and explains how to appeal. You can appeal, and a person replies within 5 working days, judging the appeal on its own evidence.

Using answers

Askers may use the answers they receive to inform their own decisions. They must not present answers as customer reviews or testimonials, use them to write reviews of any business, product or service, or suggest that the people answering are their customers.

Questions

Askers must not ask for personal data, anything unlawful, or anything that targets a real person. Images and text must be yours to share and must not be sexual, violent, hateful or illegal. Questions are shown only to the people answering them.

Sound clips

These rules apply to every sound clip you attach to a question:

  • You must own the audio, or have permission from everyone who holds rights in it (the recording, any music or lyrics, and any performance), to share it with the members who answer your question. You confirm this each time you upload a clip.
  • You must not upload a recording of anyone who has not agreed to it, or a clip that says personal details aloud. The same content rules as for images apply.
  • You keep all your rights in the clip. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to store it, remove its hidden tags, play it to the person reviewing your question and to the members answering it, and keep it for as long as our privacy notice says. We do not use it for anything else and we never make it public.
  • Members may only listen to clips in order to answer. They must not record, copy or share them.
  • A person listens to every clip before members hear it, and we can refuse or remove a clip. If someone tells us a clip infringes their rights, we may remove it and the question it belongs to.

How we keep the service safe

Terrorism content, child sexual exploitation and abuse content, intimate images shared without consent and any other illegal content are not allowed. A person can review any question, image or answer and remove it. While you answer, we record signals such as typing rhythm, pasting, time on the question, tab switches and signs that the browser is being driven by automation software, and our server checks the timings against its own clock. We also look at how many answers an account sends in an hour or a day, check written answers for wording typical of chatbots, and compare each short written answer with other members’ answers to the same question to spot near-copies. These automated signals only flag answers or accounts for a person to review; they never remove an account or withhold pay on their own.

Reporting and complaints

You can report a question, image or answer using the report form, or make a complaint using the complaints form. You do not need an account to use either. We acknowledge every complaint within 2 working days. We remove an intimate image reported as shared without consent within 48 hours of the report. We remove other illegal content as soon as we are aware of it, report child sexual abuse material to the National Crime Agency, and tell you the outcome of your complaint. If we remove your content or your account, you can appeal the same way. You can also complain if you think our automated answering signals have flagged your answers wrongly; a person will look again, may release the answer or restore your Standing, and you keep the right to bring a claim against us for breach of contract if you think we have broken these terms.

Pay, when paid questions open

Paid questions are not live yet. When they open, you answer as an independent member: you choose which questions to answer, you set your own minimum price per answer, and every question shows what it pays before you choose it. Questions arrive when people ask them, so there is no promise of a set number of questions or a set income. You are free to skip any question, and skipping does not count against you.

How payment will work

When paid questions open, askers pay through Stripe, a regulated payment provider, which holds the money and pays it out to members. PennyForYours charges a platform fee. To be paid you will set up an account with the payment provider, which checks your identity before your first payout. The full payment terms will be in the updated terms you accept before paid questions open.

Answers that break these terms, for example answers written with AI tools, are not paid, and if one has already been paid we may recover that amount from your next payout. Earnings from genuine answers are always paid, including if your account is closed or removed.

Pay from answering is taxable income, and you are responsible for your own tax. Where the law requires it, we will collect and report details of your earnings to HM Revenue and Customs.

Using the API, the MCP server or an AI agent

API and MCP access is for business use: organisations and developers acting for their trade, business or profession. Each API key has an owner who is responsible for every call made with it, including calls an AI agent makes on their behalf. Every rule in these terms about questions applies to questions sent this way, and members are told when a question came through an AI tool. During early access keys are issued by invitation and work only in the sandbox, where synthetic test members answer and nothing is charged.

We keep the /v1 API and the MCP tools backward compatible: we may add fields, operations and tools, but we will not remove or rename them within a version. A change that would break existing calls goes into a new version, and we email key holders, at the address they gave when they asked for a key, before it affects anything they use. The developer promises set this out in full.

Your data

How we use personal data, including the signals recorded while you answer, is set out in the privacy notice.

Changes to these terms

  • Version 1.4, 7 October 2026: questions with sound clips are open. The rules for clips are unchanged from version 1.3.
  • Version 1.3, 7 October 2026: sound clips (not open yet): your confirmation that you own a clip or have permission to use it, the permission you give us to store and play it, what members may and may not do with it, and removal.
  • Version 1.2, 5 October 2026: how pay will work when paid questions open. Members are independent, choose their questions and set their own minimum price; askers pay through Stripe, which holds and pays out the money, and we charge a platform fee. The earlier wording on a pay floor, holiday pay and pay statements is withdrawn.
  • Version 1.1, 5 October 2026: API and MCP access is for business use, with our promise on compatibility and notice of breaking changes. How to reach us during early access.
  • Version 1.0, 5 October 2026: first version in force for invited early-access members.

Ask us anything

If something isn’t clear, whether that’s privacy, pay, how the checks work or how to connect your AI assistant, ask. A person reads every message.

  • Help and support form

Works signed in or out. We aim to reply within 2 working days.

  • Business or team enquiry

Volumes, invoices later, an API key.

  • Developers

Request a sandbox key or report an API problem.

  • Ask your own AI assistant

Point it at /llms.txt, a plain summary of the service written for AI tools.
