Does this sound like AI? Ask real people
You may read a line twenty times and stop hearing how vague it sounds. Ask a small UK pool: does this sound like AI, and what makes you say that? If you are asking “does my writing sound like AI?”, their reasons can help you edit. Their guesses cannot tell you who wrote it. First answers are aimed for about 15 minutes in UK daytime; replies can be slower for now.

Is my writing AI? Questions to ask readers
Use a passage you are prepared to show to strangers. Text is limited to 280 characters; for longer copy, upload one screenshot.
- Example: Does this AlderWords paragraph sound like a person or AI?
- How natural does this introduction feel, from 1 to 5?
- What is the first thing you notice about this opening?
The point of this writing check is to hear what a reader notices. Ask about the text, not about a named author.
Does this sound like AI? What readers report
Illustrative AlderWords example: 14 of 20 label this line ‘sounds like AI’: ‘We transform your everyday thoughts into inspiring stories, helping you reach your potential.’ One reader calls it polished; another cannot find a real detail in it. The useful response is to replace a broad promise with an example of what AlderWords does. An AI content review like this says how the line landed, nothing about its provenance.

AI content review of a short passage
- Paste up to 280 characters or upload a screenshot of the passage. Remove private names and facts first.
- Pick a pool of 5 to 50 UK adults and ask a neutral first-impression or pick-one question. They do not see who asked or others' answers.
- Read each reason and revise the line people found vague. Test the revision if the decision matters.

Does my writing sound like AI to others?
A reader can point to the bit that made them pause. Perhaps it is the sweeping promise, perhaps it is the same rhythm across every sentence. That is more useful for editing than a bare label. An automated detector offers a pattern score, and people offer their impressions; neither records a writing history. See how answers are checked and what each receipt confirms.
Honest limit: A group of 5 to 50 UK adults is not a proof of authorship. People can misread polished human writing and rough AI writing. Do not use a result to accuse a colleague, student or applicant. Use it to improve your own text for its intended reader. The people answering will see what you upload.

What a writing check costs
Asking is free during early access. At paid launch, the quick-take example starts from 30p an answer plus 50p a question. Twenty quick takes would be about £6.50, with the quote shown before you post.
Your questions, answered
How can I tell if my writing sounds like AI?
Show the passage to readers and ask which words feel generic. In the AlderWords illustration, the phrase ‘reach your potential’ could fit almost any business, so it tells the reader little. Replace that sort of claim with a true detail, then read the line aloud. The reaction is about tone; it is not a test of authorship.
Is my writing AI if a detector says so?
No detector result should be treated as proof of who wrote a passage. A tool offers a model-based reading of patterns, while people can explain how the text sounds to them. Neither tells you the writing history. If a formal authorship decision matters, use appropriate evidence and a fair process.
Is a ‘does this sound like AI’ checker free?
Asking here is free during early access, by invitation. You show a passage and receive readers' opinions with reasons. It is a tone check for your own writing rather than a detector or a method for making machine-written work appear human.
Can I test a longer piece of writing?
You can upload one image of a longer passage, such as a screenshot, but people still give a quick first impression. The text field holds up to 280 characters. For a long article, choose the introduction or a paragraph you are considering changing, then ask one focused question.
Will readers see who wrote the passage?
No. People answering do not see your name or business, or anyone else's answer before they respond. They do see the passage on their own screens. Remove names, unpublished client details and anything you could not show to a stranger before uploading it.
