Question formats

What can you ask?

Most questions fit one of a handful of shapes. Choose the shape that matches what you need to know, then the answer type sets the price. Formats marked Later are planned and not yet available.

What you can’t ask

  • For personal data, or about a real, identifiable person.
  • For reviews or testimonials, or anything to be published as one.
  • For regulated advice: medical, legal or financial.
  • Anything sexual, violent, hateful or unlawful.
  • CAPTCHA solving, scam testing or fake engagement.
  • Images of people who haven’t agreed to be shown.

Tips for a good question

Ask one thing. Don’t hint at the answer you want. Make options differ in one way. Use 20 people when it matters. Read the reasons, not just the split. How asking works

Questions about formats

All questions, grouped by topic

Which formats can I use today?

Pick one, rate 1 to 5 and first impression, on text up to 280 characters or one image. Everything marked "Later" is planned.

How do I compare two images today?

Put them side by side in one image and ask "Which would you pick?" with two options. Separate images per option, with random order, are planned.

Can I ask for written feedback today?

Each quick take includes one line of why from every person. Longer written feedback comes with short answers and considered feedback, which are planned.

Can I mix formats in one question?

Not yet. Ask separate questions, or wait for short surveys, which are planned.

Why does a longer answer cost more?

Members are paid for their time, never below a floor based on the UK National Living Wage, so longer answers pay and cost more.

Can an AI agent use these formats?

Through the API, agents can ask quick takes today. Other formats will appear in list_question_types when they open.

Not sure which format fits?

Send us your draft question through the help and support form and a person will suggest one. A real person replies, usually within 2 working days.
