Get paid to test websites with quick first impressions
Answering is free during early access while we build our founding community. Paid answers start at launch.
If you want to get paid to test websites, check the task before joining: PennyForYours currently shows a screenshot and asks what it communicates at first glance. You cannot click through the site or record a usability session here. Screenshot answers are unpaid for now.
We review applications by hand.

Get paid to test websites: first impressions
What the screenshot tells you
Example: CoastSpoke shows a bicycle-repair homepage headed “BACK ON YOUR BIKE” with a “BOOK A REPAIR” button. The question asks what the website offers. Fourteen of 20 example members choose repairs; six choose tours. For the fictional owner, the six “tours” answers are a reason to look again at the headline and bicycle image. They do not prove that a different headline would work; another test would be needed.
Other quick takes could ask where you would expect to find opening hours or how much you trust the shop on a scale from 1 to 5. About 20p for a quick take is the paid-launch example. Paid answers start at launch. A task is designed for about 30 seconds.
Paid user testing: what this task does not cover
Paid user testing usually asks for more than this
You are not asked to browse a live site, install an app, record your screen or speak into a microphone. The screenshot stays visible while you answer; it is not hidden after five seconds for a recall test. Full sessions and phone tests are planned formats, not current tasks.
There may be no website question waiting when you open the board. During early access, answering is unpaid. Taking part is optional and brings no later reward.
How a screenshot task works
Open a question on the member board, view its screenshot and choose or rate the first thing you noticed. Add a sentence in your own words, then submit before seeing the other picks. The count appears afterwards, while the asker receives the reasons. At paid launch, the pay will be shown before you choose a question.
The member hub explains applying, and the quick-take guide explains what happens to the answer.

Get paid to test apps: a later format
App installs are a separate task
Traditional usability platforms may ask you to perform actions on a live website or app, often with a recording. PennyForYours currently tests what a screenshot communicates at a glance. It is much narrower and pays per answer at launch rather than per recorded session. If you want an app-install test, this is not yet that service.
See the user-testing comparison. For nearby tasks, look at product feedback and short opinion tasks.
Who can answer
UK adults can apply without formal testing experience. The value is an unprompted first reading of the page, written by you rather than AI. The answer-checking page explains the safeguards. Everyday members can choose questions that interest them and skip the rest.

Your questions, answered
Can you really get paid to test websites in the UK?
Yes, different services pay for recorded sessions, interviews or shorter feedback tasks. PennyForYours plans to pay for a quick first reaction to a screenshot, but answering is unpaid during early access. Check the task description carefully: a screenshot opinion is narrower than a live website usability test.
Do I need a webcam or microphone?
No. Current quick takes use a screen image and a short written reason. They do not record your camera, voice or browsing session. If those formats are offered later, they will be labelled separately and you can decide whether to take them.
Can I get paid to test apps here?
Not by installing and using an app today. Phone and app tests are planned for later. You may be asked for a first reaction to an app screenshot or icon, but that is not evidence about how the app works in use.
How long does each website task take?
A current quick take is designed for about 30 seconds. The screenshot stays visible while you answer; it is not a five-second recall test. If you need to inspect several screens and complete a task flow, choose a dedicated usability-testing service instead.
How much does a website first impression pay?
A quick take would pay about 20p at paid launch (launch example). Paid answers start at launch. You will see the pay before choosing a question and can set a minimum. Early-access answers earn nothing, and availability will depend on askers.
Is website-testing income taxable?
Pay for screenshot answers may be taxable after launch. HMRC’s trading-allowance guidance explains the allowance conditions across your relevant income; our trading allowance guide is a starting point if you use several sites. This is general information, not tax advice.
When does paid website feedback start?
No date has been announced. Early-access screenshot answers are unpaid and optional. Founding members will be told when paid quick takes open; any later app-install or recorded test will be labelled as a separate format. Answering now does not promise a paid test later.
