Design feedback from people outside your team

Get graphic design feedback before showing another version to the same team. Two clear alternatives and one question can show whether a small UK pool notices the message you intended. First answers are aimed for about 15 minutes in UK daytime; replies can take longer for now.

We review requests by hand.

Questions to get design feedback

A poster can attract attention and still hide the date. Test the decision you need to make before the next design round:

  • Example: NightGarden asks which poster people would read: A botanical illustration or B a photograph of the glowing Lantern Glasshouse.
  • When and where does the event seem to take place?
  • How easy is the date to read from a distance, from 1 to 5?

What graphic design feedback shows

Illustrative result: In the illustrative NightGarden result, B gets 14 of 20 picks and A six. Reasons say the glasshouse photograph gives the eye a focal point, while A feels crowded. Check whether people can find 18 October and 6pm before choosing B for print. A popular image does little work if the event details vanish.

How to compare two versions

Upload the two versions at comparable size and ask a question about the decision you face. You can show two images side by side in one file, or one image for a first-impression check. Members choose blind and add a reason. Use their words to make a specific edit, then ask again if the choice is close.

The Ask hub covers other formats.

How PennyForYours works

Why an outside view helps

Graphic design feedback from outside the team is useful because colleagues can read a crowded poster from memory. Someone seeing it once must find the event, date and action without that help. Ask what they understood before asking what they prefer.

See how answers are checked.

Honest limit: These are ordinary UK adults, not a panel of professional designers. A quick visual reaction is not an accessibility audit, print proof or measure of attendance. Expert review is a planned later lane.

What it costs

Asking is free during early access, by invitation. At paid launch a quick take starts from 30p an answer plus 50p a question (launch example); 20 quick takes would come to about £6.50. You see the quote before asking.

Your questions, answered

All questions by topic

Where can I get honest design feedback?

Where possible, ask beyond your own design discussion, and give people a decision to make rather than an invitation to be polite. PennyForYours uses a mixed group of verified UK adults for quick reactions. You can also ask your intended audience directly when you need their specific context.

How do I ask for feedback on a design?

Show the design without explaining it first. Ask what people think it is for, what they notice and what they would do next. If you need a choice between two versions, keep their scale and presentation comparable so the difference you care about remains visible.

Can designers give the feedback?

The current quick-take pool is not a professional design panel. Verified UK adults give ordinary first reactions. An expert lane is planned for later and will be labelled separately. If you need technical critique now, commission a designer as well.

Can I test a design for accessibility?

A first reaction can uncover small text or an unclear label, but it cannot establish accessibility compliance. Use the relevant standards and specialist testing for colour contrast, keyboard access and screen-reader behaviour. Treat this result as a prompt for further checks.

Is my design kept private?

The question is shown to the people answering it without your name or business and is not put in a public feed. Members still see the image, so do not upload work you could not show to a stranger yet. Remove private client information before asking.

How much does this test cost?

During invitation-only early access, asking is free. At paid launch, the example rate is 30p per answer plus 50p per question, so 20 answers would be about £6.50. You see the quote before posting. A revised poster can be compared in a new question after you have acted on the first responses.
