A Squadhelp alternative for testing names
A Squadhelp alternative depends on whether you need names created or a shortlist tested. If you are looking for Squadhelp in the UK, decide whether you need name ideas or a test of names you already have. Squadhelp is now Atom; it still offers naming contests and also sells domains [1], [2]. PennyForYours can test two or three names you already have with UK adults. A naming contest here is coming soon, not available today. Last checked: 7 October 2026.

Squadhelp alternative: contest or name test?
Atom and PennyForYours solve different parts of a naming project. The name of the older service appears here because many founders still search for it.
| Question | Atom, formerly Squadhelp | PennyForYours |
|---|---|---|
| What you bring | A naming brief for creatives, or a domain search [1], [2] | Two or three names already shortlisted |
| What comes back | Contest entries and a chosen winner under its contest model [1] | Choice split and one-line reasons from 5 to 50 UK adults |
| Domain purchase | Domain marketplace on Atom [2] | No domain registration or sale |
| Trade mark | Check the current Atom service if this matters | No trade mark clearance or legal advice |
| Current availability here | Atom describes live contests [1] | Quick name test now; idea briefs and prize-pool contests coming soon |
A contest prize, a domain and a preference question are not comparable units of work. For a founder with no shortlist, pay for name creation if it suits the brief. For a founder with three workable names, test what each communicates before paying for more ideas.
Atom contests and UK shortlist testing
Choose Atom when you need candidates
Atom's official help describes a contest where creatives submit names against a brief and a winner receives the prize [1]. Its marketplace offers domains [2]. That is a useful route when your team has exhausted its own ideas or needs a purchasable domain alongside the name. Ask Atom directly about today's packages, rights and timing; they vary with the project.
Choose PennyForYours when you need to choose
A maker could show ‘NestJar’ and ‘CopperSeed’ for a savings app and ask which name feels safer. In the example design, 14 of 20 choose NestJar and six choose CopperSeed. The useful part is why: one respondent reads CopperSeed as a corporate term, while another finds NestJar familiar. That is an illustrative split, not a measured result or proof that the name is available.
Run a short name test without explaining which choice you prefer. A small general UK pool helps surface associations. It cannot clear a trade mark, check a domain, or predict whether your buyers will remember the chosen name. If you need a whole business idea developed from a brief, that format is coming soon here.
Official sources checked 7 October 2026: [1] Atom's contest explanation; [2] Atom's account of the Squadhelp rename and marketplace. Contest prices were not quoted because a live package and rights check is needed.
Test names you already have
Upload a single image showing the names side by side, or write the short options directly. Ask what the names suggest, not which name people think you have chosen. Members pick between two or three options, then give one line explaining the choice. The result shows the split, all reasons and a brief summary, plus a signed receipt for each answer.
People answer blind: they do not see the asker's identity or earlier replies before responding. The group is 5 to 50 UK adults and cannot yet be selected by age, interests or job. Our trust page describes the current checks. If the name must work in a specialist trade or another country, test that audience separately.
Asking is free during invitation-only early access. At paid launch, the quick-take launch example starts from 30p an answer plus 50p a question. No contest or prize pool is live here, so a name test buys feedback on your shortlist rather than creative submissions. Use other idea checks if a naming result is only one part of your decision.

Start with a shortlist, then check availability
Write down the job the name needs to do. Is it to sound safe, show a category or be easy to say aloud? Remove any option that fails a basic domain or trade mark search before asking people to choose, then test the remaining names. An opinion split cannot replace those checks.
Request early access to test a shortlist, and see product-name testing if the wording sits on packaging. Naming contests are coming soon here. The asking guide covers what works now, while founder examples show where a name test fits. PennyForYours is built in the UK; read who runs it. For a current-format question, a real person replies.

Your questions, answered
What should UK buyers compare now Squadhelp is Atom?
Squadhelp became Atom, according to Atom's own 2024 announcement [2]. The company says naming contests remain part of its offer while its domain marketplace has grown. Use the current Atom site for its products, terms and packages; older Squadhelp pages may describe a different version of the service.
How much does Squadhelp cost now?
Atom's contest cost depends on the project and package, so check a current quote and the rights included on Atom's site. We have not repeated an old Squadhelp price. PennyForYours is a different purchase: a shortlist test is free to ask during early access, with a per-answer launch price later.
Can I test shortlisted names with UK respondents?
PennyForYours is a UK option for testing names you have already shortlisted, with quick reactions from UK adults. It is not a substitute for Atom's contest and domain marketplace. If you need fresh ideas from creatives, choose a naming service that offers that work now, then test the shortlist separately.
Can I run a naming contest on PennyForYours?
Not yet. Idea briefs with a prize pool and naming contests are coming soon. Today's live format is a quick test of two or three names you provide. That difference matters if you have no candidates: members here are not being asked to invent or transfer naming rights in the current product.
Can I test names created by Atom?
Yes, if you have the right to show the shortlisted names to respondents. A quick test can reveal which option communicates your intended meaning and why. Check your contest terms before sharing any confidential candidate. The result is an opinion sample, not a domain availability or trade mark check.
Does PennyForYours check trade marks or domains?
No. We collect people's reactions to a name; we do not run legal clearance or buy domains. Check the relevant registers, marketplace terms and professional advice before committing to a name. A favourable 20-person preference result cannot tell you whether the name is safe or available for your business.
