Get paid for your ideas (coming soon)Coming soon

Answering is free during early access while we build our founding community. Paid answers start at launch.

Coming soon: original idea briefs. You cannot get paid for ideas here yet; the ownership and payment rules have not been settled. Today, a business can test two or three names it already has, and members can pick the stronger one. That quick-take format is available now, but answering is unpaid.

We review applications by hand.

Get paid for your ideas: planned briefs

Get paid to come up with ideas: the planned format

Coming soon example: GoodPaws could ask for names for a dog-walking business, with a space for your idea and why it fits. That open brief is not available today. How a chosen idea will be paid and what rights transfer have not been settled, so no prize or earning amount is quoted.

What works today is a pick-one question such as “Which of these two dog-walking names feels more dependable?” A member chooses and gives a reason. It takes about 30 seconds; about 20p for a quick take is the paid-launch example. Paid answers start at launch.

Get paid for business ideas: what is unresolved

Get paid for business ideas: what is unresolved

The open-ideas feature has no release date or published ownership terms. It should not be treated as an available way to earn. During early access, answering is unpaid. Answering a live quick-take now does not reserve a place in future paid idea work.

Members will need to be adults in the UK. Ideas must be their own, without AI generating the submission. Do not send an original idea expecting a prize or a transfer of rights now. We need to publish the judging, payment and ownership terms before an open brief can go live.

Get paid for ideas: the planned brief

Coming soon: the planned flow is to read a brief, suggest an idea, explain it and learn how it was judged. That flow is still a proposal. Today’s flow is simpler: take a pick-one quick question from the board, choose between shortlisted options, add a reason and see the count afterwards. The asker’s identity is hidden while you answer.

How PennyForYours works

Companies that pay you for your ideas: check the terms

Ideas, naming contests and quick opinions

A naming contest may invite many original submissions, with rules about winners and rights. PennyForYours has not launched that format. Today it asks members to react to shortlisted options supplied by an asker. That is feedback on somebody else’s ideas, not payment for creating your own.

Read about feedback on products and names or the planned naming-contest comparison. The asker-side crowdsourced ideas page is also coming soon.

Who can join

When an ideas lane is ready, it will still need a person’s independent judgement. For current quick questions, applicants must be UK adults and write their own reasons. Read the answering rules and everyday-member overview. Nothing in early access requires you to submit an original idea.

Your questions, answered

All questions by topic

Are there companies that pay you for your ideas?

Yes, some businesses use contests or commissions for names and concepts, but the rights and payment rules vary. Read those terms before submitting original work. PennyForYours has not opened its ideas feature, so it is not an available source of payment for new ideas. Current quick takes only ask you to choose among existing options.

Can I get paid to name things?

Naming contests exist, but ours is coming soon. At present, you can react to two or three names an asker already has. Quick-take answering is unpaid during early access; about 20p for a quick take is a paid-launch example. Paid answers start at launch. No prize for creating names has been set.

Who owns my idea if it is chosen?

The idea-submission terms have not been decided or published. Do not submit original business ideas on the assumption that you keep or transfer particular rights. We will set out ownership, judging and payment rules before opening that format. Current pick-one questions ask for a preference, not an original idea submission.

When will the ideas feature open?

There is no date. We will label it “Coming soon” until an open-idea brief can actually be taken. Paid quick takes also have no launch date; all early-access answers are optional and unpaid. Joining now does not give you priority for future paid idea briefs.

Can I use AI to generate ideas?

No. Member answers and any future idea submissions must be your own work. AI-assisted generation would remove the independent human judgement askers came for. If a check raises a concern, a person reviews it; no single automated signal decides your account’s outcome.

Would I pay tax on money for ideas?

Payment for original ideas may be taxable, but this feature and its terms do not exist yet. HMRC’s trading-allowance guidance covers qualifying trading income, while the treatment of a particular idea payment may depend on its terms. See our trading allowance guide for the allowance basics. This is general information, not tax advice.

When do paid quick takes start?

No paid-launch date has been set. During early access, answering is unpaid and optional. A quick take about shortlisted ideas is available now, but the separate original-ideas format is coming soon. Neither type of early-access participation earns a later reward.
